When smelting aluminum alloy, it is usually necessary to wait for the aluminum ingot to dissolve before adding a certain proportion of metal silicon. High-quality metal silicon can effectively improve the mechanical properties of aluminum alloy and increase the yield rate. The classification of metal silicon is usually based on the content of the three main impurities of iron, aluminum and calcium contained in the metal silicon composition. It can usually be divided into different grades such as 553, 441, 411, 421, 3303, 2202, and 1101.

Function:

1. Improve the high-temperature fluidity of the alloy;

2. Reduce shrinkage;

3. Reduce the tendency of hot cracks;

4. Improve wear resistance

It is not that the higher the silicon content, the better. When the silicon content of the cast aluminum alloy exceeds 14%, silicon and aluminum form a hypereutectic. It is difficult to handle. High-silicon cast aluminum alloy will seriously corrode the crucible.
