Ferrosilicon is an alloy composed primarily of iron and silicon, typically containing a silicon content ranging from 15% to 90%. It has a silvery-gray appearance with a metallic luster and can be processed into various forms such as natural lumps, standard lumps, granules, and powder.
Ferrosilicon is produced by smelting quartzite and coke in an electric furnace through a specialized process. The raw materials are heated to high temperatures, causing the quartzite (a source of silicon) and coke (a source of carbon) to react and form ferrosilicon.
In Steelmaking:
Deoxidizer:
In the steelmaking process, ferrosilicon acts as a deoxidizing agent. It helps remove excess oxygen from molten steel, preventing the formation of oxides that can affect the quality of the final product.
Improving Fluidity:
It enhances the fluidity of molten steel, improving its absorption rate and reducing production costs.
Alloying Agent:
Used in producing various types of steels such as low alloy structural steels, spring steels, bearing steels, heat-resistant steels, and electrical silicon steels.
In Casting:
In casting processes, ferrosilicon helps improve the overall quality and properties of cast iron products.
We offer a range of ferrosilicon products including different grades like:
Ferrosilicon 72%
Ferrosilicon 75%
