INTRODUCTION
Uses of Ferrosilicon 72:
(1) Ferrosilicon 72 is an essential deoxidizer in the steel industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation.
(2) Ferrosilicon 72 is used as an inoculant and spheroidizing agent in the cast iron industry. In the production of nodular cast iron, ferrosilicon 72 is an important inoculant (helping to precipitate graphite) and nodulizer.
(3) Ferrosilicon 72 is used as a reducing agent in the production of ferroalloys. Not only is the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen great, but the carbon content of high-silicon ferrosilicon is very low. Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon (or silicon alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent in the production of low-carbon iron alloys in the ferroalloy industry.
(4) Ferrosilicon 72 is often used in the high temperature smelting process of magnesium metal according to the Pidgeon method of magnesium smelting. The magnesium in CaO. MgO is replaced, and each ton of magnesium metal will consume about 1.2 tons of ferrosilicon. The production of magnesium metal plays an important role.
