Silicon metal is a gray shiny semiconductor metal, also known as crystalline silicon or industrial silicon, mainly used as an additive in the smelting of quartz and non-ferrous alloys of coke in electric furnaces. Classification of silicon metal is usually based on the content of iron, aluminum and calcium. Silicon metal can be classified into different grades such as 553, 441, 411, 421, 3303, 3305, 2202, 2502, 1501, 1101, etc. The general diameters of the silicon metal are 10-50mm, 50-100mm, 10-100mm or other sizes according to the customer's requirements. Silicon metal improves already useful properties of aluminum, such as castability, hardness and strength. Adding silicon metal to aluminum alloys makes them strong and lightweight. In addition, silicon metal is used as a basic material in the solar and electronics industries.
