Applications of ferrosilicon:
Used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent in the steel industry. To obtain steel with the appropriate chemical composition and ensure steel quality, deoxidation must be performed at the final stage of steelmaking. Silicon has a very high chemical affinity for oxygen. Therefore, ferrosilicon is a strong deoxidizer and can be used for precipitation and diffusion deoxidation in steelmaking processes. Adding a certain amount of silicon to steel can significantly improve the strength, hardness, and elasticity of the steel. Therefore, it is used in the smelting of structural steel, tool steel, spring steel, silicon steel for transformers, and is also used as an alloying agent. At the same time, improving the shape of inclusions and reducing the gas element content in molten steel are new technologies that are effective in improving steel quality, reducing costs, and saving hot metal. Particularly suitable for the deoxidation requirements of continuously cast liquid steel. It has been proven in practice that ferrosilicon not only meets the deoxidation requirements of steel manufacturing, but also has desulfurization performance.
